On the first page the author personifies the past clawing its way out and I believe that it's very true. Om page three Amir is very descriptive about Hassan and it made me wonder why he is so important in the story. I still wonder why Amir calls his father "Baba" instead of dad or father. On page 13, the simile, "...attention shifted to him like sunflowers turning to the sun," makes it obvious that Amir's father is well-known. Also on page 13, when amir talks about his father's snoring, it really reminded me of my dad and how I have trouble sleeping because I can hear him from next door. I noticed a lot of allusions to God as I read up to page 18.
